Ocean Origami - Shore Crab 🦀

The shore crab is the most common crab species found along our shores – both in rockpools and on the end of crabbing lines! Usually green(ish) in colour, your origami shore crab can break the trend and end up any colour you can imagine!

Join the Living Seas Team for Ocean Origami, and learn how to make your very own Shore Crab. The best part? This one won’t nip!

Origami is, by definition, nice and simple. You probably already have everything you need lying around the house!

What will I need?

To make your Origami Shore Crab, you will need:

  • 1 x piece of card or paper.
  • 1 x pen or pencil.

Please note: if you are using coloured paper/card, you will want to begin with the coloured side facing downwards.

1) Fold your square piece of paper in half.

3) Push into the top pocket you’ve made, right over to the furthermost inside corner, with your finger.

4) This should allow you to make a triangle – like so.

7) Fold back the sides of your top triangle at around 45º. This should give your crab claws.

9) Fold bottom tip of your top triangle towards the centre.
